SYLVIE BERMANN IS THE FIRST WOMAN TO BE ELEVATED TO THE RANK OF "AMBASSADOR OF FRANCE".

She has served as an ambassador in three permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council: China (2011-2014), the United Kingdom (2014-2017), and Russia (2017-2019).
In 2020, she was appointed President of the Board of Directors of The Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN) and in 2021, she became an Administrator of the Institute of International Relations and Strategic studies (IRIS) and an Administrator of Jacques Delors Institute .
Sylvie Bermann is also a columnist for the newspaper “Les Echos”.

In Lisbon, Ambassador Hélène Farnaud-Defromont welcomed Sylvie Bermann, a former French Ambassador who served in the United Kingdom, Russia, and China. Ms. Bermann was invited by Céline Abecassis Moedas to the 31st Estoril Political Forum, organized by the Catholic University (UCP).
During the session on the role of the European Union in the world, chaired by former Minister of Foreign Affairs António Monteiro, Ms. Bermann took the floor.
Since January 2020, Sylvie Bermann has been serving as the President of the Board of Directors of The Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN), after being elevated to the rank of French Ambassador. She also works as a consultant for French television channels.
